  • Establishing appropriate financial, schedule and scope baselines and management controls.

Southern Railway

Southern Railway (2014)

Lead interface with new Network Rail South East Route on establishing strategy for a collaborative approach to delivering the CP5 renewals & enhancements for all assets (E&P, Signalling, Structures, track) which impact on the infrastructure used by Southern Railway rolling stock.

Lead interface for Southern with the Thameslink Project/DfT on all aspects relating to delivery of the Thameslink scheme, including station, track/signalling & rolling stock; establishing project governance, developing business cases and securing authority for packages; progressing all associated Network & Station Changes; supporting mobilisation and delivery of facilities in to service following blockades together with all associated safety aspects.

Lead interface with Network Rail for developing strategy and subsequent delivery of a programme of enhancements including platform extensions, route clearance for new rolling stock, introduction of enhanced signalling systems including new OD technology & identifying potential enhancements to both capacity & more efficient use of infrastructure.

Developing REB & IAP strategies between Southern, Network Rail & associated suppliers to help delivery scope, possession and cost efficiencies

MTR

MTR Corporation (2013)

Bid writers for rail franchise/concession bids including Essex Thameside and Crossrail.

Providing specialist support in areas of work including asset management (mainly property, car parks), commercial property (property development, estate management, revenue generation for both retail units & advertising), ticketing revenue (new equipment & technologies) and revenue protection strategies (resource deployment/PFNs) together with customer services (resources, roles and general deployment strategies)

Southern Railway

Southern Railway (2011-2013)

Providing a strategic review of key business interfaces between the Executive Teams of Southern Railway and Network Rail, identifying & implementing efficiency improvements in accordance with McNulty principles.

Providing programme management for:

  • A major business change strategy for transferring over 150 staff from on train revenue/customer services teams to new market leading multi-skill customer service host roles at both Gatwick & Victoria rail stations.
  • Preparing & implementing new ticket migration & channel shift strategy for 157 stations including managing the impact on both revenue/staff.
  • Preparing & implementing a thorough business review of a new Model Stations concept for all operations at Stations & within Ticket Offices.
  • Transferring of Station Facility Owner responsibilities for Network Rails managed station at Gatwick to Southern. This included preparation of a market leading business sharing model all associated commercial contracts, transfer of property assets, TUPE of staff & management of key stakeholders.

University of York

University of York (2010-2011)

Commissioning Programme Manager for the Heslington East project (circa £100M Phase 1) providing the client interface with the principle contractor (bam Construction). Services provided included Construction Management, Facilities Management, Project Management, Property Management, as well as delivering all aspects of the clients’ £11M 2nd fix fit out (including business relocation of over 400 staff; AV equipment; specialist TV & theatre facilities; catering units and new fittings, fixtures & furniture for seminar rooms & lecture theatres accommodating over 1000 students).

The scheme included provision of 25,500 sq metres of new teaching & research buildings (Law/Computer Science); state-of-the-art Theatre Film & Television facilities including a production village, theatres, broadcast studios, post-production & green screen black box film stage; a flagship ‘Hub’ building comprising research, business incubation & knowledge transfer facilities & the Catalyst building for creative/technological industries collocating with an academic centre of excellence.
